Palm Springs & LA vacay

For this years Family vacay, we wanted to go somewhere a lot easier than traveling abroad especially because I’m pregnant. My track record being pregnant with Aleia was a bit scary, constantly being rushed back and forth to the doctor for early labour signs, so we wanted to be closer to home, and near reputable hospitals incase anything happened.

When I started looking & planing at where to go last year, to be honest Turks & Caicos was on the top of my list. But because we went to Aruba last year we had to wait 6 months to start trying for a baby due to the Zika virus. So if we were to travel around the Carribean & Atlantic Islands we would either be waiting to try again for a baby 6 months after coming back or if  we were pregnant pregnant it would be risky for the baby’s well being. Which led to me choosing to head down to the states & go to Palm Springs! What I really liked about Palm Springs is that it’s an easy 2 hour flight from Vancouver, the weather is always nice and warm plus we could take A to Disney Land! And honestly Palm Springs did not disappoint. It was gorgeous, easy to drive around, family friendly, it had everything you could possibly need and there were many different options to eat!

The weather was fabulous the whole time we were there 30+ to 35+ everyday, the nights was nice and cool. We spent most of the our vacay lounging by the pool, enjoying the sun, just what my pregnant self actually needed. We stayed at the Westin Mission Hills Villas which was really lovely! I booked a large one bedroom suite through our vacation membership with a full kitchen, dining room, laundry facilities in our suite and everything we needed. It was definitely perfect for us and so comfortable.

When we did manage to venture and explore Palm Springs, driving was fairly easy, there were never any traffic even during rush hour, and everything was so close to each other. One of the highlights on our trip was when we spent the afternoon at the Dessert Living Zoo. Even though it was scorching hot outside Aleia really enjoyed seeing the animals & feeding a baby giraffe! I debated whether I should bring a stroller for our vacation & I am SO glad I did!! Aleia doesn’t normally sit on her stroller at home she prefers walking but bringing a stroller made the airports easier for us. It made checking in our bags, walking around the airport early in the morning & trying to get to the gates as well as made walking around the Dessert Living Zoo so much EASIER! We brought our Diono Quantum stroller & seriously it is the BEST stroller for traveling & for everywhere! Light, easy to fold for the plane, easy to handle & smooth. We ended it up using it a lot as well around Disneyland which is truly an absolute lifesaver!

After spending some time in Palm Springs we headed to Los Angeles to take Aleia to Disneyland!! We loved the Halloween decor around Disney & all the yummy treats! Pretty much a pregnant girls dream come true. With Aleia being 2.5 we didn’t do a lot of the rides but she was definitely more interested in meeting all her favourite characters & watching all the shows. She met Tinkerbell, Iridessa, Minnie Mouse, Mulan, Tangled, Flynn Rider, Ariel & Cinderella! Her absolute favourite was going to Goofy’s Kitchen to have breakfast with Goofy, Chip n’ Dale & the rest of the gang. Seriously.. BEST.TIME.EVER! Just seeing the magic on her eyes was enough for both B & I, she absolutely loved Disneyland!! We can’t wait to take her with her baby sister next time. 🙂
