I can’t believe our sweet baby Aisla is almost 2 months old! I need to really invent a remote of some sort to slow time down! Many of you know that I gave birth to her a little bit earlier than expected & she ended up staying in the NICU for 9 days. In the NICU she was treated for RDS (Respiratory Distress Syndrome). Although we were lucky enough to have only stayed for 9 days, it was definitely the longest 9 days of our lives. My heart was split in two places at once, we were in the NICU with Aisla 24/7 & it was the first time that I’ve spent time away from Aleia. Having a babe in the NICU is one of the scariest & saddest experience. Fortunately, unlike many babies in the NICU Aisla recovered fast & we were able to bring her home & be a family of four sooner that we thought.
For the first 9 days of Aisla’s life she was hooked into so many monitors that it was overwhelming. She was hooked into a Cpap machine, heart monitor, IV line, feeding tube & she was also intubated & given surfactant. Coming home I had the biggest anxiety about her well-being. Although, she had slowly come off monitors day-by-day, as a mom it’s inevitable not to worry.
