Baby Registry Essentials

As a 2nd time mama, you end up learning what you “actually” need for baby and learn of the things you can do without. With Aleia I remember going absolutely crazy with my baby registry and shopping for everything. To be honest a lot things I received we simply didn’t use or had forgotten about. I mean at the end of the day what babies really need for the most part are: clothing, a comfortable/safe place to sleep on, milk, a lot of LOVE & ofcourse a trustworthy thermometer & humidifier just in case baby catches it’s first cold or flu! If you are anything like me, you’re always prepped incase one of your children or both get sick. This is why my fave baby registry must-haves are the Braun No touch + forehead thermometer and the Vicks FilterFree Cool Mist Humidifier.

Braun No touch + forehead thermometer

First off, baby thermometers are an absolute must-have as a new parent but have an accurate thermometer is key. Braun is #1 brand used by pediatricians and highly recommended by moms everywhere. I have been using Braun thermometers (I have 3!) since Aleia was a newborn and I swear by it especially because of its accuracy. My favourite features about the Braun No Touch + forehead thermometer are the Age Precision Technology® and that I don’t have to wake my children up to take their temperature! All I need to do is simply hold the thermometer 5 cm away from my sleeping child’s forehead and voila, it tells me their temperature!

Clinical research shows that the definition of fever changes as newborns grow into little kids and little kids grow into adults. The Age Precision® technology helps parents interpret your child’s temperature considering their exact age. With the new Age Precision® technology, you get an accurate reading and, it also and has age-adjustable fever guidance which completely takes the guesswork out of interpreting your child’s temperature.

Taking your child’s temperature with the Braun No touch + forehead thermometer is super easy!

Step 1: Set your child’s age with the Age Precision® button.

Step 2: Take the temperature.

Step 3: The colour-coded fever indicator will help you understand and interpret the results and act accordingly- (green: normal, yellow: elevated temperature, red: high temperature).

The Braun No Touch + forehead thermometers are available at, Walmart, Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, London Drugs, Snuggle Bugz, Babies “R” Us, Jean Coutu.

Vicks Humidifiers

My 2nd baby-must have for every parents registry are Vicks humidifiers! My Vicks FilterFree Cool Mist humidifier is an absolute lifesaver! Just recently, my newborn baby caught the sniffles and cough from her sister and having our humidifier made a huge difference of how our night turned out. She was able to breathe easier with a stuffy nose and cough, which made breastfeeding a lot easier and everyone was able to have restful evening! A total mom-win!

The Vicks FilterFree Cool Mist Humidifier helps restore essential moisture to any room, helping to provide soothing relief once those coughs, sneezes and congestion strike. Cool Mist humidifiers help maintain overall room temperature, and can be used in conjuction with Vicks VapoPads soothing scents. It’s ideal for medium sized rooms, and runs up to 20 hours of operation per filling (minimum run time is 8 hours on high) 4.5 L/1.2 gallon capacity).

Whether you are a new mom, a mom the second time around (or third!) choosing important and trustworthy baby products for when your littles get sick is key. This is why I personally choose the Braun No touch + forehead thermometer and the Vicks FilterFree Cool Mist humidifiers for my family.
