Mini Family Getaway featuring The Westin Seattle

This year marks our 5th year living in the West Coast! It’s really hard to believe that it has been that long since B and I packed our whole lives in a U-Haul moving truck, our camper and 2 vehicles and moved to the Pacific Northwest leaving our friends and family behind to start our own. It’s also really hard to believe that 5 years later, plus 2 beautiful children that we have never ventured down to Seattle!! After all, it’s only a 2 hour and 35 minute drive from Vancouver.

With the sheer chaos of October to December in our household (A’s preschool and many extracurricular activities along with hubby’s busy work schedule and Christmas) I figured January would be the perfect time to take a break and spend some quality time together as a family and head down on a mini getaway to Seattle.

Roadtrip With The Girls

The drive went by super fast, Lala slept through most of it and when she wasn’t sleeping, Aleia was making funny faces and making her laugh. (*heart melt). We weren’t in a rush and stopped for a nice family lunch once we crossed the border at Blaine.

Emerald City

My favourite!

There is so many things to love about Seattle… and no not only McDreamy and the first ever Starbucks, but those are definitely pluses! Nestled between the Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound, the city itself is surrounded by natural beauty and iconic murals. Walking around there’s a cool, urban, yet modern and vibrant feel that makes you fall in love with this city instantly!

We loved strolling downtown, visiting Pike Place market and checking out the shops, restaurants and we all enjoyed going to the Seattle Aquarium. Both girls loved the exhibits, even Aisla couldn’t stop looking around. We went for a walk down the Seattle Waterfront to see the Great Wheel and that was definitely a hit.

THE WESTIN SEATTLE

We stayed at The Westin Seattle and it was the PERFECT place stay. It is located in the heart of downtown making it so convenient for every types of traveler, whether you are traveling solo or with your family the location is top notch. In front of the hotel is the Seattle Monorail, making it even easier to get around. This luxurious hotel is a short walking distance to the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Seattle Waterfront, Seattle Aquarium, the Great Wheel, as well as many great restaurants and attractions.

The Westin Seattle itself was spectacular and the service was beyond wonderful that we were spoiled and treated to the Presidential Suite on the 47th floor! This multiroom at the top floor offers the most breathtaking view of downtown Seattle, Puget Sound, the Space Needle, city skyline, Seattle Waterfront, the Great Wheel to mention a few. Every window were floor to ceiling giving you the BEST views of the surrounding area.  This suite was spectacular to say the least. The girls, especially Aleia loved watching the ferries travel back and forth Elliot Bay every day.

Beautiful downtown Seattle at night

The best view of my favourite people in this beautiful room

Our room was large, immaculately clean, the room amenities and their attention to detail was exceptional. And honestly The Westin Seattle have the BEST BEDS and pillows! My husband can attest to this! As a pilot he is often traveling and brings his own pillow everywhere he goes and I can get very picky about beds as we have a special mattress at home but I definitely didn’t miss ours and had the best sleeps!

Lala loved our bed

Our suite also had a beautiful bar to make drinks and hang out, many sitting area, a large conference style dining table, a small kitchen with a fridge, microwave and a Nespresso coffee machine, definitely one of my fave.

A little afternoon bowling while sister naps

The girls absolutely loved the large soaker tub and all the fun amenities provided! Aleia even had a floral milk bath! This is her absolute favourite treat that she was so thrilled.

My favourite was their 24 hour fitness centre that was spacious and had peloton bikes! Being a mama of two, one being under 1, I forgot to bring my running shoes but thankfully, The Westin Seattle offers fitness gear rentals!! We have stayed in many hotels and this was the first time I have heard of this, which was so convenient! I was able to rent (what appeared to be) brand new running shoes and was able to go to for a run at the fitness centre.

The pool is always our family favourite and their pool was a good size! Everyone had a fun time splashing around and swimming.

The food options were great, you can eat In Dining and have your food sent to your suite or venture down to RELISH where they offered many delicious entrees. B really enjoyed their RELISH burger, I loved their RELISH Chopped salad and the kids loved their Beechers Mac & Cheese, so yummy. For dessert, everyday I ordered the Cookie Skillet!

Lunch at Relish, yum!

Across the lobby they also have 1900 Fifth Bar for delicious cocktails. Although I didn’t get the chance to have a yummy cocktail there I am definitely looking forward to having one for our next visit, on my birthday!

I’m a total sucker for In Room dining and one of my favourite part about going on vacation is not having to cook and being spoiled with a healthy breakfast in our room while enjoying a beautiful view! During the last 2 mornings of our trip, we ordered In Room dining and enjoyed some delicious breakfasts in our room. Simply laughing together, watching our children in awe, just admiring the spectacular view and soaking the special quality time we had together.

Overall, our trip was AMAZING! It was just what we all needed and we came home feeling so relaxed, refreshed and spoiled. It’s been a week since we got home and everyone has been talking about how much fun it was and how lovely The Westin Seattle is.  Aleia has been asking everyday to go back to our hotel and to see the ferries travel back and forth on the bay and the ferris wheel. Hubby and I enjoyed Seattle so much that we are already planning our next trip in a few months for my birthday!

Whether you are traveling by yourself, with your significant other or family, Seattle is definitely a must see and a stay at The Westin Seattle will leave you feeling so refreshed!

I had these delicious French Toast with toasted hazelnut 2 mornings in a row! So good!

Family time is the best time!

A special thank you to The Westin Seattle for having us and to all the friendly staff for their spectacular service! This trip was a trip to remember.
